I am so happy to read this Gavin. I stopped reading too much as I don't read reviews ( maybe I should have continued. haha ). I look forward to seeing it now. I am really happy you got an early look. Exciting.

As a HUGE fan of the original star trek and TNG, I am more worried about this movie than excited. I mean Enterprise was horrible in my mind and didn't even follow the time line that was established. I mean really they met the borg in enterprise! They can make all the prequels they want I wish they would follow time lines correctly.

I'd be really interested to hear what you think of the new movie. I don't want to get into spoilers, but timelines are sort of integral to the plot.

I wouldn't want to spoil anything, but I heard Data dies in this one.

I have been a Star Trek fan since TNG was still airing in prime time, so I was worried this movie would be a little awkward, but I went into it with an open mind and really enjoyed it. I embraced the casting, the new aesthetic, and radical story line. The one thing I didn't appreciate was the lens flare. I could probably rant and rave about this the way you unloaded loathing for Michael Bay's Transformers. I honestly thought there might have been something wrong with the way the projector in the theatre was set up. I mean, having everything shiny is okay, but do you have to shine spotlights into the camera so the audience gets the simulated cataracts experience!?

    Good movie.
